Biography

Julie Eckert

I immigrated to Canada with my parents from Germany in 1955.
I have wanted to be an artist since I was twelve years old. When I retired, I finally had the freedom to go full throttle with my art work. Painting watercolour for about fifteen years now.

Mostly self taught, I did also take art classes from local artists, joined art groups and participated and won many juried shows.

Gaining experience in the magical processes of watercolour, one day I decided to reinvent myself. From acrylic landscapes to magical watercolour I finally found my happy niche.

When Covid hit I decided to put smiles on peoples faces as well as my own by painting whimsical watercolour themes with bright colours, layers and ink. It was my therapy and still is.

Capturing the Wonderful World of Whimsy in watercolour ink is now my medium of choice and joy.

I am also a Photographer/Videographer, Writer and Teacher.

I am a true immigrant success story and proud to call myself a Visual Artist.
